Really Long Overdue Update

I really suck at this blogging thing. Been over 3 months since my last update. Several things happened:

1) Gained 3 more students:
Joy Beltran -- AAK Blackbelt living in New York
Grace Beltran -- Joy's Sister
Mike Rosario -- Grace's Boyfriend

2) After a month of training, the Beltran sisters had to drop out due to personal reasons. They said they'll be back once the dust has settled. According to my AAK colleagues, they keep there word when they say that they'd be back. This has happened before.

3) My wife's cousin, came over to visit. Boy, she's got stories and issues! Lovely lady, but a little coo-coo. Just got out of a whirlwind marriage and now she's jumping in another storm.

4) My wife and kid left for the Philippines last Nov. 25 for vacation. I spent my Thanksgiving with my siblings. House was really quiet and lonely without them. I'll be following them on Dec. 17.

5) Ricky Lim Sensei and Chino Veguillas Sempai of the AAK came over to visit last Nov. 26 and stayed until the 2nd of Dec. They were with old friends, Pedro "Poochie" Roldan Sempai and Brandy Mariano (He and I took our Shodan Test together). We had a blast and they turned my house into a frat dorm.

5) Completed 25% of my new Project. Damn! It's a pain in the butt!

6) Packing and cleaning up for my big trip to Manila. Can't wait to see the wife and kid!!!

Lost 2 Students

Got some bad news. 2 of my karate students will not renew their membership with me. They were a father-daughter tandem where the daughter was 7 years old. According the dad, the daughter wouldn't have any time especially since she is going through some therapy. She has a condition were what would be considered a short walk for an average person would be as if she ran long distance. The dad said that he might join if he's schedule starts to clear up.

That leaves me with one student left. I've got to promote my class some more if I want to make it successful. I've been talking to other parents and they keep on saying, "Well, Johnny won't have any time. He's doing ." As one karate school owner said, the main competition of a Martial Arts School isn't another MA School. It's the other sports. Winning little Johnny or Suzy to take up Karate instead of ballet, gymnastics, Football, Tennis, or whatever is the main challenge.

I've come up with a new flyer. Needs cleaning up. Gotta do more cold calling. It's tough to be a karate instructor and salesperson/marketing manager at the same time.

New Prospect for Karate class

Got off the phone with a certain "Aricia". She's interested in enrolling her daughter. However, she is not a member of Monterey Sports Club. I told her that if she wants her daughter to join, she'll have to pay a higher monthly payment than I originally charge. I told her the prices and she seemed enthusiastic about it. She wants to meet up with me tomorrow. I told her I will be at the sports club tomorrow at 6:00pm. I hope this can turn out well. Wish me luck!

Just started this...

First time using a Blog. Maybe I'll have better luck with this than my web page. Been pretty much hectic nowadays. Hopefully, this would turn out more fruitful.
